zapyourtumor on Green...Control?

If you're scared of control just run 4 Veil of Summer sideboard instead of suboptimal lands

Manamorphose may be a filler card, but its not a completely free card like Gitaxian Probe is. There is a reason why not every single deck in modern in red or green plays 4 manamorphose, and its only played by stuff like storm and prowess. It gives you a random top deck so you cant factor it into mulligan decisions, and it costs 2 mana instead of 0 mana so it messes with your mana curve (I.e. you miss your 1 drop, cast it on turn 2 intending to cast sculptor of winter, instead draw into your arbor elf). The better solution is to just up your general card quality.

Manamorphose is just a filler card to let me run under 60 cards essentially. Boseiju and PYP both didn't exist back when I made this deck, guess it is time to update it.

Also, as far as the lands to cut, Gemstone Caverns is amazing in here, as we just want to go fast, since the sooner we get to 5 mana, the better. Boseiju, Who Shelters All is also really needed against control, and we are actually a spell based deck, the creatures are only there to ramp or eventually be a win-con, but the main goal is to get to Plow Under or Primal Command to start topdecking their lands and forcing them to redraw them.

I used to run Warstorm Surge but really don't like the fact it costs 6 mana to cast. I know it combos well with Be'Lakor, the Dark Master, but it's too expensive and I'd much rather have the 3-drop Imprisoned in the Moon to completely shut down someone else's commander (until they can remove the enchantment). I love Wound Reflection also but, exactly like with Wound Reflection, the 6 mana needed to double up on damage/life loss is why I don't have it in the deck, either.

Thank you for the suggestion, and just know it's not missed on me, I've just played quite a few games where I had Wound Reflection in my hand and found it more of hindrance as opposed to an asset given every one in my pod plays 8+ power level decks.

What exactly is Manamorphose doing here?

Manabase is a little weird, if you really want to lean into snow then I'd run 4 Prismatic Vista. Gemstone Caverns and Boseiju aren't worth having in the sideboard, and both of those cards are basically only for spell-based combo decks like ad naus. I'd take out all 6 copies across main and side, replace the maindeck ones with 2 Boseiju, Who Endures, replace the sideboard copies with 4 Pick Your Poison.

Commander_JAR in the earlier versions of this build those were included, but despite how solid they usually are in mono on paper, they aren't a good fit in this list specifically! Rituals are the bomb when you have something you consistently want to use that mana on, but Shimatsu is extremely specific with their timing. Like, for 95% of the game they are detrimental to cast; that leaves normal rituals entirely reliant on the not-so-good card selection red has, and there's almost zero value in topdecking them. Over time I phased all rituals out (excluding Jeska's Will since it's still just good impulse draw) in favor of more artifact synergies like Voltaic Key. Mana Vault is already nice with Shimatsu since it's a solid "ritual" and can be sacrificed to avoid taking damage, and turns out once the list reached that critical mass of artifacts that liked being untapped, the keys were just waaaaaay better at providing the same if not more mana. Artifact count means the world for the list too and rituals don't help in that department.

Suggested cuts: Waste Not - enemy discard is a secondary strategy, and viable, but this is a card that is only a payoff for a secondary strategy. I think it may be dead enough that it doesn't warrant a slot.

Logic Knot - would be sweet if it was {U} less. As is, it's a strictly inferior counterspell that uses a valuable resource to be effective

Fervent Denial - 5 mana is a lot to hold up, 7 will almost never happen in a board-presence focused deck.

Dark Deal - wheels are decent here, but this Mind Rots yourself. Have 4 cards, cast this, end up with 2. The other wheels can benefit from enemy high card counts. This does disrupt opponents, but that's gonna draw some ire and you just binned half your resources. If you can withstand the ire you should be winning anyway. Something like Frantic Search would be better IMO.

Zombie Infestation - two cards plus one upfront is a steep price. I don't know that you have enough reanimation to need to dump your hand at instant speed when you already have Varina available.

Dismantling Blow - a glorified Disenchant 90% of the time. A 6 mana spell the rest of the time.

Suggestions not many at this stage. Gleaming Overseer is a consideration if you find yourself heavy into tokens. I'm a big fan of a few cards in your maybe list: Obsessive Search, and Kindred Discovery. Though the latter is slow.

Matzalantli is cute but I'd be wary of labelling it as ramp when assessing your manabase given it needs 7 mana to activate, and won't be online until at LEAST turn 5. It's defs more a Gilded Lotus than Arcane Signet

I see you run Rise of the Eldrazi but only 1 land that can tap for colorless. I know you have some artifacts that can assist with that, but have you considered adding an Ancient Tomb to make it easier/ramp? Or is that card too mainstream for your tastes?

Mirari - Or is it too winmore/doesn't work with your commander?

I have yet to actually review your deck tech, I just saw the savage beating part which was pretty cool. I also got to hear what you sounded like.

No, you won't have to sacrifice Ball Lightning to its own ability.

You don't have to stack the triggers in a special way to make this work. Teferi's Veil makes the creature phase out "at end of combat" but Ball Lightning's ability triggers "at the beginning of the end step". Because Ball Lightning is phased out by the time the turn gets to the end step, its ability won't trigger at all. Even if it was a situation with two simultaneous triggers that needed to be stacked in a specific order, if the "phase out" trigger resolves first then there's nothing around for you to sacrifice when the "sacrifice this" trigger resolves.

It's Friday Nights around here (Wisconsin) but love the theme of this deck.

I always wanted to build around Derevi, Empyrial Tactician because I thought it pairs well with Hylda of the Icy Crownaltered but I've only ever done one deck with her — Frozen

I got a merfolk deck I'm working on too — Submerged, though it's more based on Islandwalk + Merfolk tribal than just Merfolk.

Anger for Need for Speed since part of your goal is getting lands into the yard. I’ld pull Sand Scout since it only triggers once per turn. Drop Elemental Bond, shouldn’t hurt any since you have a number of others with the same effect or better. These are bout the only things I can suggest right now till you get a little more of an idea bout which way you wanna take the deck. Also, I wasn’t suggesting you make your deck like my Hazezon deck. Was just using that deck as an example of how many lands you could possibly be playing per turn. I get wanting to make unique decks.

Destroy up to one target artifact, enchantment and land.

Acidomancey is a very niche field of magic that is often mocked by other, more robust forms such as hieromancy and necromancy. That is, until you learn just how true it's destructive capabilities are.

Not a fan of acidomancy as a name but idk what that would be called. pH stands for Potential of Hydrogen, so that won't work. And "acid" negates the field of alkalinity, which is literally half of the spectrum.

So idk

Rasaru It plays well, it plays differently each game but overall has a very similar wincon and strategy each of multiplied burn damage. Just depends what pieces you pull.

Power wise I'd say its a solid 6, maybe a 7. Holds its own against things like upgraded dinos and other well built casual decks. Could be stronger with other planeswalkers but I wanted to keep the theme.

Definitely relies on the token generators to keep the high threat chandras out long enough to ult them but that keeps it relevant and it has strong interaction through all the various crimes.

You don't need to have a reason.

The first item in that list, "whenever they have priority", allows players to activate mana abilities at any time they'd normally be able to take an action. The other items in that list give players special permission to also activate mana abilities at times they normally wouldn't be able to take an action (because they don't have priority at those times), but only if a mana payment is needed at that specific time.

Keep in mind that if you pass priority with unused mana still in your mana pool, you're supposed to let other players know how much mana is still in your pool.

I am trying to understand this comprehensive rule:

605.3a "A player may activate an activated mana ability whenever they have priority, whenever they are casting a spell or activating an ability that requires a mana payment, or whenever a rule or effect asks for a mana payment, even if it’s in the middle of casting or resolving a spell or activating or resolving an ability."

Does this mean that I need to have a reason to tap a land for mana, such as a cost? I cannot tap my lands to produce mana for no reason?

For example, am I able to tap Forbidden Orchard without paying a cost in order to give an opponent the 1/1 token?

Considering you're running red and Dragonstorm you should look into the red "ritual cards." Worse cast they give you more mana to cast other spells. Best case, you're tutoring more dragons than you'll probably expect.

Not sure if that challenge would work, because soulbond's rules are that creatures are paired. Although I think I have a work-around, that would require an errata to the rules text.

Kallis, Soul Exchanger

Legendary Planeswalker - Kallis

Soulbond (You may pair this planeswalker with another unpaired creature or planeswalker when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)

+1 Put a +1/+1 or loyalty counter on a soulbonded target.

-3 Put a shield counter and a Ward counter on a soulbonded target.

-7 You get an emblem with "Whenever a soulbonded permanent you control leaves the battlefield, return it to your hand instead."
