How you might guess from my name, I'm a dedicated tribal player. I like gimmicky, unusual tribal decks, and if there is something I like more, then it is brewing them.

I'm a green player at heart, though I really like playing any colours if I like the deck I can brew with them. In the last years, I tried to get into EDH, and although my experience in actual play is still quite small, I've become pretty ok in deckbuilding.

Here's a link to my EDH-decks:

Baboom

After going for "budget perfection" for the most time, I lately realized how awesome games of Magic can be if your deck isn't aimed at perfection, so I started building some decks with intentional weaknesses. And I can tell you: It's a blast.

If you have seen which set I started with, you know I've been around in this game for quite some time, but I'm still a kitchen table guy, and only if it's because my priorities aren't set on tournaments.

Feel free to take a look at my decks, and if you encounter or even have some weird (tribal) lists, please show me. I'll see if I can give some suggestion or appreciation of your creativity.

Webtangle

For each of up to X target creatures, create a Web Token and attach it to that creature. (A web token is an enchantment aura with enchant creature. It has "Enchanted creature can’t attack or block, and its activated abilities can’t be activated", and "At the beginning of the end step, if enchanted creature’s power is 4 or greater, destroy this token.")

So web token is basically Arachnus Web. And because of the rule that if an aura enters the battlefield without a target, you may attach it to any legal target without targeting, TypicalTimmy's creature is even cooler.

There might be others better equipped to define what the IQ tells you, as it's pretty specific, but not a perfect value to tell someone's smarts.

Nonetheless, IQ is spread on a Bell curve, with 68% of an average population somewhere between 85 and 115. So 152 is pretty damn smart.

Beast of Sound

Creature - Bat

Flying

Protection from permanents with counters.

Whenever ~ enters the battlefield or you cast a bat spell, put a -1/-1 on target creature you don't control.

6/3

It's the reason audibly counting can kill you.

Create an Elemental card for a deck around Hylda of the Icy Crown.

This looks really fun, and you made many fine choices. There are still some cards you might consider:

Pride of the Clouds is the OG Skycat Sovereign. Looks like a great additional beatstick for you.

Stonecloaker is a good attacker, can recycle ETBs and annihilates any grave-based strategy on its own.

What's more, you look a little light on removal. Path to Exile and Condemn might be good additions. Also, how about some boardwipes?

Looks pretty fine! How about Teething Wurmlet, Sardian Avenger and Pain Distributor for some additional tech? Also, Viridian Revel gives you a little card draw.

April 28, 2024 2:55 p.m.

You're welcome. But what do you mean by "they changed it"? I'm very sure it's been like this forver.

As for additional utility out of your treasures: Why don't you just Revel in Riches?

April 28, 2024 4:38 a.m.

Riptide Devastator

Creature - Elemental Leviathan

Islandwalk

As long as you control three or more islands, ~ has hexproof.

Whenever ~ attacks, put a flood counter on target land. It becomes an island.

6/6

Create a mono- 6/6 for (is "Dreadmaw" established enough to use it for that?).

April 28, 2024 3:40 a.m.

Short: Yes, you can do that.

Long: Regenerate has a counter-intuitive way of working. It creates a "regeneration shield" that does the following: If this creature would be destroyed or dealt lethal damage, you instead tap it and remove all damage from it. So for regenerate to work in the first place, you need to regenerate the latest in response to the effect destroying it or dealing the lethal damage.

This means you can and even need to regenerate a creature without any damage marked on it, and thus you can target Krenko to uncage him.

Mechtitan Emergency Call

Sorcery

As an additional cost to cast this spell, search your hand, library and/or graveyard for six vehicle cards with different names and exile them, then shuffle.

Create Mechtitan, a legendary 10/10 Construct artifact creature token with flying, vigilance, trample, lifelink, and haste that’s all colors. When that token leaves the battlefield, shuffle all cards exiled with this spell into your library.

Create an MV6 instant that draws two cards as part of its effect.

Queza's Thoughtbender

Creature - Cephalid Warlock

Ward - Mill three cards.

Other cephalids you control have "Ward - Mill three cards".

Whenever an opponent mills one or more cards, you may exile up to one of them.

You may cast cards exiled with ~ if that card's owner has been dealt damage this turn by a cephalid you control.

3/4

Create a legendary creature card depicting a team-up of Chatterfang, Squirrel General and Kibo, Uktabi Prince.

Calamity's Impact

Instant

As an additional cost to cast this spell, reveal a giant card from your hand.

Choose one. If the revealed card's manavalue was 7 or greater, choose one or both instead:

  • ~ Deals X damage to each non-giant creature, where X is the revealed card's mana value.

  • Draw X cards, where X is the revealed card's mana value.

I'm currently really enjoying my giant EDH. That card would be a blast in there.

Create a mono- mythic rare wolf creature.

Bloodfire Devastator

Artifact Creature - Giant Golem

Trample, Menace

, , sacrifice ~: It deals X damage to each creature, each planeswalker and each player. If a permanent dealt damage this way would die this turn, exile it instead.

7/7

Bloodfire Colossus has propably never been good. So let's krank it up a little bit. I have at least two decks where I'd run this.

Btw, that's your challenge: Create a card you'd run in multiple of your decks. The format doesn't matter, but simply making it a generally good card would be lazy.

April 23, 2024 11:41 p.m.

I recently build my Neheb, the Eternal, and I'm having a blast with it. The latest two cards I added are Kumano Faces Kakkazan  Flip and Invasion of Regatha  Flip. All three of these look like great additions. What's more, Pestilent Spirit looks powerful with your high density of damage spells. Finally, Shivan Gorge would be nice to have here.

April 22, 2024 3:44 p.m.

Squirrel Down

Sorcery

Destroy all artifacts and enchantments. For each permanent destroyed this way, its controller creates a 1/1 green squirrel creature token.

Make a mono- theft card.

April 21, 2024 7:47 a.m.

TypicalTimmy: I think the phrase came up some pages ago as a descriptor for "mana embodiments", such as, as Tsukimi said above, elementals, oozes, angels, shades, and weirds.

Angelic Shade

Creature - Shade Angel

Flying, Angel

: Until end of turn, creatures you control that are angels or shades get +1/+1 and gain lifelink.

3/3

Let's try something. Let's assume we're heading to the plane of Szeleria, a plane that's populated by sentient, but non-humanoid oozes. As we enter the lore, a new menace arrises, endangering all of Oozekind. +1/+1 counters would be an obvious theme in the set. But what else? And what is the menace to oozekind? Show us!

You're welcome! Have fun with the deck.

April 19, 2024 5:38 a.m. Edited.

Hylda is one of my favourite decks, as well. Your deck looks fine, but let me suggest some nice tools I have in my deck:

Opposition is obviously powerful. But have you ever seen Flood? Junk Winder and Court Street Denizen don't go infinite with Hylda by themselves, but you don't need much mana to get a lot of value out of them. Ballynock Trapper untaps easily and taps stuff for free. Fine card for the deck. Sunblast Angel is a great boardwipe, and if you don't need the body, Don't Move does the same. Icy Manipulator is a classic. Finally, Dreamshackle Geist is basically a second Timin.

Thoughts?

April 19, 2024 2:02 a.m.

This looks pretty fine! If you even happen to wanna upgrade, a playset of Obsidian Battle-Axe would propably supercharge it a little ;)
