I first started playing MtG in 2013 via janky kitchen-table "Modern" with my college friends. We dove into EDH around 2019 & haven't looked back since.

I aim for mid-high powered casual, & when it makes sense to, usually include at least 1 combo wincon to help close grindy games. I like to have some variance in my play & only run a couple of suboptimal tutors in my combo-y decks.

is quickly becoming my favorite 3 color combo. Red & Black have grown on me the most since I've started playing MtG, especially EDH, and are probably my favorite single colors.

Thank you for checking out the deck, legendofa, it's the successor to my Windgrace & Prosper decks.

When I first put together G-G&S, most of the decks I saw were Ninjutsu focused. I def got the sense that they were a means of doing Ninjutsu without the reputation of Yuriko & OG Satoru; both of which I've played against numerous times in my playgroups.

legendofa, I run both Goro-Goro and Satoru, & Ognis, the Dragon's Lash as commanders. I play G-G&S more as quick aggro/self-bouncing threats, & don't use any Ninjutsu.

Both decks share a few overlapping cards, but they could make for a fun partnership.

Inkshield seems like it would be right at home here. I used to play Wake the Dead in my old Araumi of the Dead Tide deck, and I think I got some different mileage there since I'd use it to recur big blockers. Could also be worth considering some bodies that make multiple tokens at once or incrementally, like Chittering Witch or Illustrious Wanderglyph. Company Commander can also give you multiple sac fodder bodies, then anthem up folks if you turn them sideways.

Nice! Those will probably be some decent initial swaps. Since your curve is so low, maybe you could swap out Orzhov Signet or a land and still be fine.

Thank you! Vraska has been pretty fun to play. I was really excited for Marionette Apprentice and was glad to see you have it in here. The deck feels kinda like a rattlesnake as I set up some of my extra mana sources to steal stuff that dies & turn them into treasures.

Quick edit: Disciple of Perdition might be worth considering in one of your 2 drop slots, since it has the option for graveyard hate. Def a more meta specific choice.

Thank you for reaching out Tsukimi, I hope you're well.

Teysa is a classic, and it looks like you've got a really solid foundation going so far, especially utilizing KibaAlpha's deck as a primer.

You have a decent chunk of the cards I was going to recommend either already in your deck, or in your Maybe Board. Maybe you could swap a couple of your redundant 1 or 2 drops for something like Afterlife Insurance, Bloodghast, Ophiomancer, or Warren Soultrader.

I do like the inclusion of Wake the Dead as a cheeky means of getting some of your little goons back for some more death triggers. Maybe you could consider swapping it for Inkshield? I imagine you would probably be paying a pretty similar rate with Wake the Dead, in terms of mana spent, a lot of the time. Could be a more effective means of blanking aggro damage at you, and also setting yourself up with a bunch of tokens to either dome somebody or chuck into one of your aristocrats engines. It's definitely more pricey compared to Wake the Dead.

Here's the relevant text from the Mutate MtG Wiki page, plus the linked source in the Wiki from the Ikoria release notes:

"Mutate represents an alternative cost. To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying (such as the alternative cost of mutate), add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was and no matter whether an alternative cost was paid. [7] "

Since Mutate is an alternate casting cost, commander tax still applies to it. I used to play both Brokkos, Apex of Forever and Vadrok, Apex of Thunder a couple of years ago. Brokkos is able to get around it a bit better with his Mutate from GY ability.

You are more or less correct Merk-A-Do. The sequencing is basically:

  1. Declare attacks, picking your attackers & sequencing triggers.
  2. Caesar triggers the first time, & Isshin gives him an additional trigger. Sac a token, then pick 2 Caesar abilities
  3. Caesar triggers 2nd time, sac a creature, then pick 2 more Caesar abilities.

Isshin & Caesar are excellent support pieces in each other's 99s.

Caesar would trigger an additional time from Isshin, & you would have to sac another creature for the 2nd trigger. The attack trigger based creatures & enchantments you do have are All Stars in Isshin, so giving them a little extra juice couldn't hurt. I do agree with you Merk-A-Do, you might need a few more attack triggers if you wanted to make the most of Isshin.

Regardless, Isshin is still worth a consider since at the very least, he will always be able to work with Caesar. Given his versatility, Caesar can snowball in the 99 of token producing Isshin decks. Caesar & Isshin decks have a decent amount of overlap in terms of token producers & group slug, but I think Caesar decks tend to lean more aristocrats.

I'm not sure if the revealing has any effect on the binned cards being accessible via Coram's last ability, but Hermit Druid could be a means to quickly fill up your yard. Since you're running 7ish basics, you might only need an activation or two to be set.

Lion Umbra and Dog Umbra bring me a couple of steps closer to Crow Umbra being a reality lol. Maaaaybe by Modern Horizons 5. Time to start pestering Mark Rosewater on Tumblr.

In regards to Ocelot Pride, you do need to gain life for its entire paragraph end step trigger text lol.

The thought of swinging an unblocked 0/5 Coram, then Entomb-ing any big beater is pretty hilarious. Besides Brawn & Anger, I'm interested in if most Coram decks will use Voltron & anthem components to make commander damage consistently viable. Fling & Tainted Strike are also kinda cheeky options with the big beaters in these decks.

You and I seem to be on such similar wavelengths when it comes to brewing lol. I also started brewing Coram recently, but took a break to make some MH3/M3C updates to existing decks.

I'm digging what you have so far! I def had some slightly different options for beaters, like Death's Shadow, Malignus, & Yargle and Multani. I also play in a meta with plenty of aggro beatdown, so I don't think I'd be short for options.
