Hands down Toshiro Umezawa has always been my favorite Mono-Black commander. I love the unique spellslinger style he has in a color usually devoted to creatures or aristocrats, while maintaining the graveyard synergies. The goal is fairly simple: kill anything that threatens us as much as possible until a combo can be turned on. To facilitate this there are several kill spells as well as a good amount of protection for our commander.

The paths to winning are

Aetherflux Reservoir + Bolas's Citadel + Sensei's Divining Top - Laserbeams.

Chain of Smog + Professor Onyx - Infinite Drain

Torment of Hailfire- Drain

Syr Konrad, the Grim- Draining out opponents thanks to the kill spells leaving the graveyard after Toshiro's ability resolves, and the creatures themselves dying.

Hatred- Swoll Samurai

Mindcrank+Bloodchief Ascension- Infinite damage and/or Mill.

Maybeboard?

Expedition Map- Nongreen way to find an important land such as Field of the Dead, Cabal Coffers, or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

Mesmeric Orb-Could effectively draw our cards so long as Toshiro Umezawa is out, while ridding more of our opponent's threats passively. Or, it could nuke all of our win cons....Still, a favorite of mine.

Spoils of Evil- If more Mill is acquired or if the opponents are creature/artifact heavy, this could ramp us into a big Torment of Hailfire without being conspicuous.
