Split Decision

Instant

Will of the council — Choose target instant or sorcery spell. Starting with you, each player votes for denial or duplication. If denial gets more votes, counter the spell. If duplication gets more votes or the vote is tied, copy the spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.

Amazing deck! I only saw Tivit for the voting ability but you have made him so much more. I did notice you were a bit low on interaction, maybe you need to add some cards like Cyclonic Rift or Counterspell. Maybe Ballot Broker and Brago's Representative for additional artifacts or Grudge Keeper and Illusion of Choice to force the votes a single way. If your playgroup is ok with going infinite then I recommend putting in Time Sieve because it goes infinite with Tivit as long as you consistently flicker him back and fourth each turn and Deadeye Navigator because it also goes infinite with Tivit. Erdwal Illuminator is great because you will always get another clue if at least one person votes for evidence. More synergistic interaction may be something like Split Decision because you can all commonly agree to counter the bog bad spell or you could attempt to sway the vote and get the big bad spell allowing for more flexibility that the amazingly well-known Counterspell.

I think Spelltwine doesn't work with your commander, because you are copying the cards and casting them instead of copying the spell. If that's right than Mizzix's Mastery and Arcane Bombardment also wouldn't work, sadly. Maybe they are good enough to keep anyway? Not sure. Cards with the Cipher mechanic are also so close to working but I don't think they do. This is actually kind of hard to brew around! Ugh, God-Eternal Kefnet wouldn't work either, ew.

Immolating Gyre and Volcanic Vision are really good boardwipes in a spells-y deck... as is Cyclonic Rift, which you definitely should still run. In fact, all the overload spells are pretty sweet here, since they only target things you don't control, so if you copy them opponent's can't even pay the 4 life to hit one of your things. Makes Vandalblast and friends possibly worth it.

Radiate is such a fun card that could do some real crazy things here! Shoutout to Radiant Performer as well.

Sublime Epiphany and Volcanic Offering Might not be good enough here.

I really like Narset's Reversal, Split Decision, and the demonstrate cards in this deck! Obviously Twinning Staff is fun here too.

It will be interesting to see if Lithoform Engine or Pyromancer's Goggles will be good enough here (I like Primal Amulet  Flip). Maybe more spells that copy spells are better than these chunkier repeatable ones? Things like Galvanic Iteration or Reiterate if you like the buyback better. Or Increasing Vengeance for the beefier flashback. Hell, if its politics Bonus Round could be really fun. Chef's Kiss is a newer one that I forgot about

Maybe this is the kind of deck where Thrilling Encore shines?

Is Stunning Reversal here to try and copy and save other people with?? Seems like it may not be good enough when you have access to blue for card draw/protection anyway.

I've found the expertise cycle (Baral's Expertise, Yahenni's Expertise, maybe not Kari Zev's Expertise) to be really fun with spell copying, since they in turn let you cast more spells themselves.

I wish, as I always do, that Cloven Casting wasn't soooo bad. Or like, any of the cards with Replicate. Those would be so perfect. Maybe Shattering Spree is good enough but I think it isn't. Ugh, that makes me think about how you're definitely supposed to play storm cards in this deck. Are there any storm cards that aren't miserable? Mind's Desire maybe...

Is Charmbreaker Devils good enough?

Wild Ricochet is an oldie but maybe enough of a goodie here with the copying theme?

Harmonic Prodigy since your commander is a wizard isn't a terrible idea...

Humble Defector might be too cute.

Gotta have Rakdos Charm! Honestly there might be other charms that are worth it to like Crosis's Charm, but definitely Rakdos Charm.

Cruel Ultimatum is the ultimate chunky spell and you're even in the right colors for it!

Also Chaos Warp is still good enough as universal instant speed removal and kind of fun/politics-y as well

Hey Osbert! Really great suggestions. Let me address each one on its own:

Mass Manipulation you are 100% right. After testing, it wasn't very great. I am looking for a replacement, but I am in need of some control and/or stealing commanders to ensure safety. That 1/1 or 2/2 (at best 3/3) hydra isn't worth the cost, I totally agree.

Split Decision you are right as well. I wanted a counterspell that was more versatile. realistically I wanted to counter other counters, and split decision did just that (with the added flexibility). But you are right, I think I will use Delay to be more straight forward.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang is very interesting. I will try it out and see how it flows.

In regards to Leyline of Anticipation and Seedborn Muse. Ive tried them and they feel a little clunky. In order for those cards to be more effective, more instants and "flash enablers" need to be included. Its about atleast 4-6 cards in order to make these 2 cards effective. And I I find it cuts into the ramp/counterspells/removal of the deck.

Blue Sun's Zenith I think will replace Mass Manipulation. Atleast until I can think of another control based X card.

I 100% agree with your card draw analysis. But I think the deck can be played in a couple different ways. I simply chose the more "kill everyone asap" approach vs. the sustained battle approach. Most of the card draws you've mentioned are on curve enchantments, but do require generation/sacing of creatures, which means we need the commander down first and cast many X spells to get. So its a tad slower. But in the event that the game goes longer, your suggestions are better suited.

In terms of the ramp you mentioned. I agree that if your heavy card draw, than those make WAYYY more sense. Just the way my deck is right now, I think its less valuable in its current iteration.

Thanks for the suggestions Osbert!! Do tell me if you find any more gems for Zaxara~!

Neat multiplayer deck! I can see it's based in voting and multiplayer politics, i'm a really big fan of this idea

I notice you're playing Terramorphic Expanse Evolving Wilds, and Esper Panorama without playing any basic lands... It may be worth it to take out some of the slower ETB Tapped lands in favor of some basics here.

You should consider some of these cards: Coercive Portal -> Nets you an extra card each turn or wraths the board based on each players' decision Oreskos Explorer or Boreas Charger -> Good way to get you out of a situation where you're down on lands, with a nice multiplayer theme Wayfarer's Bauble -> Mana ramp in non-green colors Crystal Shard or Erratic Portal -> Buys back your own creatures that may have ETB effects, can also save your duders in a pinch Split Decision -> Voting card that can either copy a spell or counter one

Might be worth investing in a Ghostly Prison or Propaganda effect to deter people from attacking you

Some howling mine effects like Dictate of Kruphix or Howling Mine

Duskmantle Seer is always fun in a deck where you consistently have more life than an opponent

plaguuuuu on Exploding Emrakul

Hi all,

The reason why I'm posting about this all of a sudden is that Exploding Emmy is making its way around the world, with ChannelFireball tweeting about playing it yesterday!

https://twitter.com/ChannelFireball/status/1191146361032282114

They were also kind enough to post my tappedout decklist...which I hadn't updated in two years.

And so this post is mostly to say that the tappedout decklist has been updated with the latest new Exploding Emrakul tech, with new cards and interactions that I've carefully sifted and curated through many hours on Gatherer.

Some new fun interactions:

Split Decision - It isn't a multiplayer game without some sort of politics. When people start voting to copy spells all over the place, things get really wild.

Murmurs from Beyond - Card advantage! Hopefully there isn't an Emrakul in the top three cards. If there is, you'd better be good friends whoever you targeted with it.

Radical Idea - 1.5/5 rating in Guilds of Ravnica limited, stone cold bomb in Emrakul constructed.

Remand - The best target for this spell is an opposing Emrakul. Rumours of Last Word being uncounterable have been greatly exaggerated.

Vendilion Clique - Okay seriously, there's is a LOT of nonsense with Vendilion Clique.

Anyway, I hope you guys have a lot of fun playing Exploding Emrakul - this game has become a staple amongst my playgroup, and it's been a blast every time. Shoutouts to Dark Sphere in London, where I may have taught the game to multiple people over the last couple of years.

If you tried it and enjoyed it, do tell me stories about how large the stack got, and other hijinks that your playgroup got up to. Unfortunately I live on London time, so I may not be able to get reply until later.

Until next time!

Hey degli,

Sorry for taking a bit to respond. Thanks for the words of praise, this deck is my favorite and i'm glad other folks have a positive opinion of the build. In terms of budget, I can definitely understand that some cards seem just pointlessly expensive. Here are some suggestions i'd offer for each of the previously mentioned cards:

Onward to the alternatives:

I think you have some great card choices there. Leave a link to your deck so I can give it some Chitinous Blessings. Thanks for commenting on the page!

Ive tried Flux and its good, but that fact the card lets you choose makes it a little too good for your opponents I think, which is why I dropped it. Slate of Ancestry sliped past my nets somehow, so now I am going to test it out, it look like it could be really good! Curse of Echoes was also in this deck for a bit but again just gives away free spell casting to your opponents, so I dropped it. Split Decision and all the other Will of the council cards feel like a trap, unless your playing with people who are willing to just have a good time you are always going to just get the lesser of the two choices. In Split Decision's case it can work out but still not a fan of it. Time Spiral was in the deck but was cut due to $$$, I do plan to build this deck so I wanted to keep it at a realistic budget, which is why I do not have Wheel of Fortune or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn both of which are cards that should be in this deck.

"political cards" make me think of Coercive Portal, Covenant of Minds, Plea for Power, Curse of Echoes, and Split Decision.
