New Pin Collection Card will be an Obnoxious Combo Piece

People were worried that these stupid unfinity mechanics like stickers and attractions would impact regular commander play and the Pin Collection card is definitely going to make waves in commander as a strong combo piece. The fact that stickers remain on a card as it changes zones and that it has a cmc of 1 means the combo potential of the card is incredible. With all the ability stickers made I can only imagine how many combos you will be able to have with this card. Looking at the current stickers now I have already found 1 easy 2 card combo with pin collection and Grinding Station.

Here is the combo, the first thing you do once Grinding Station is in play is pay x=2 for pin collection putting the sticker on it which says "Whenever this permanent dies, return target noncreature, nonland card from your graveyard to your hand." Sacrifice pin collection to Grinding Station and use the triggered ability of the sticker to return pin collection to your hand. Next Replay pin collection with x=2, and this time put on the sticker "tap add 1 mana of any color to your mana pool." Now tap Pin Collection for 1 white mana, sacrifice pin collection to Grinding Station and return Pin Collection to hand. Replay pin collection for 1 white mana and repeat milling out all of your opponents. This combo is undoubtedly a strong combo, and I am sure that even more obnoxious combos will be discovered.

Note As I wrote this I did not pay attention to the fact you bring 10 sheets and have to pick 3 at random but if you pick 10 good sheets in an artifact combo shell that already uses grinding stone to combo with other cards this just provides a free artifact that might be useful anyway as just a mana rock with a lot of the mana tapping abilities or you could just end up having this card as the full-blown combo cards.

I would imagine that specific sheets will be highly valuable, but they also seem like a problem. Once the sticker is used, it'll be difficult to "reuse" them. I suspect there will be players who want to "return" said stickers to their sheets after each game.

Likely what will come of it is how we use dice to represent counters and tokens. We will likely end up saying we are "using this sheet and sticker", without actually peeling them off.

As another note, even if you did manage to pull all those sticker sheets, your combo still would not work - stickers return to the sticker sheet when the card enters a hidden zone like the hand.

That said, I am really not fond of sticker cards being in black border (if they were just a silver bordered mechanic, I would not care). Stickers are bad game design - the random element of the sticker deck means they are not something you can really build around and their perishable nature does not mesh well with their legality in “eternal” formats.

The flavor text is basically what stickers are. They're so bizarre.

Wasn't there an unset where you had a MTG card that has a large peelable sticker face? It was like a land or something and you peeled off the front cover and exposed the "real face" of the card underneath?

Right it was a 2021 superdrop for secret lair
