Commanders you have built in unconventional ways

I would like to use this thread to share my deck called, Hit Me where I use Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts to lure attack at myself. Since there is no way to make the attack Directly at me i thought i would make it beneficial to attack me. It is a mix of Monarch, curses on myself, Maddening Imp,Magnetic Web and the Coveted Jewel to make attacking me more appealing or just force attacks. But catch is I would use cards like my commander, Entrapment Maneuver, Oath of Kaya, Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker to Punish the attacks. So it creates this little game of do I attack him.

So let's here how you built your commander in a unconventional way. And what are your thoughts on my deck?

Love the topic. I built Atraxa, Praetors' Voice as a wither build in Down with the Sickness! (Atraxa - Wither). Not what most suspect of either Super-friends or Infect. When people hear this they relax little.

LB0818 In my opinion wither seems more fair then infect in some cases. Nice build you have here.

tonylomas I like the Arcbound and making sure you can get them without distraction from others with pillowforting. Sounds like a fun deck to play against. Definitely take on Tameshi, Reality Architect

I was looking at my decks, thinking “I’ll be able to share a ton of stuff on this thread!” but it’s looking more like I’m actually only barely utilizing my commanders, mainly picking them for aesthetic value and color matching. I guess the closest I can get is that the only wheel in my Nekusar Torture! deck is a Wheel of Torture.. does that count? LOL

I didn't think I was being all that strange when I decided to build Olivia's Crimson Court using only legendary vampires to get around Olivia, Crimson Bride's downside. Turns out it's the only legendary vampire tribal deck I seem to be able to find. So it wasn't unconventional in my mind but it seems to be pretty unique after all. Otherwise my decks seem to run more towards conventional.

FormOverFunction seems to me unconventional would describe your nekusar deck pretty well from that brief description of it. Nekusar without wheel effects is very unconventional.

Back before the Golos ban, I used him for God tribal. The Gods had such varied and difficult costs that it was often easier to simply wheel them into play. So the deck focused on copious amounts of ramp so I could wheel, at one point, three times in a single turn. But, the issue was that it didn't matter if I hit three Gods with each activation, because without Devotion, they were useless enchantments.

I took the deck apart because it couldn't stand against a single thing. Shame, really. I really want a viable God tribal deck.

TypicalTimmy a friend of mine plays god tribal. He included some of the avatars from Eventide. I forget which ones are all in there but it's some of these guys Overbeing of Myth, Deity of Scars, Divinity of Pride, Dominus of Fealty, and Nobilis of War. He activates his gods with some regularity.

TypicalTimmy Sorry to hear the deck didn't work out. My first commander deck was a phoenix tribal but the more I played it the less it was viable and too hard to get out. So I added up making it into a landmatter Lord Windgrace deck.

DrukenReaps It is interesting that much people did not build Olivia, Crimson Bride in the way you described. I guess your makes for a unique Olivia.

FormOverFunctionI like the how you made your Nekusar, the Mindrazer and really highlighting his ability. Interesting.

Super fun topic! And a lot of good things happening here already.

I did build a deck for Rarity which is still a work in progress but it's (Rule 0) UniThorn the Aggro Pony that uses the B-side effect of Rarity giving creatures protection to hit with things like Curiosity consistently. It's an extremely fun deck to play and I love breaking it out and throwing around just tons of combat damage. I don't always win, but I always feel like I'm doing something effective, and an effective deck with an adorable pony is kinda where I'm at : )

Marisi, breaker of coils enchantress (angry Naya gods). Players are regularly confused on what to remove. Usually they take out Purphuros or something that isn't as strong in the deck due to low synergy. It is assumed I need attackers all the time, but I am more likely to shell up & play enchantress than people realize... Just in a more aggressive way than most enchantresses.

Atla Palani, Nest Tender Insert eye rolls here ... BUT! Hear me out. My Atla deck is literally all damage doublers, damage triplers, or direct damage creatures. This means you see Ruric Thar, the Unbowed with Fiery Emancipation & cards that usually never see the light of day like Magmatic Force. Chandra, Awakened Inferno is hilarious with a damage doubler.

Gleeock this sounds like a very interesting deck to see work. I have played Enchantress before it can be slow but this strategy seem faster to me.

Niko9 playing with rarity definitely is interesting and can go in many direction. Winning with commander damage.

Just made a sort of enchantress type Kenrith deck that ramps quite explosively. It’s a bit like your Teysa except it incentivizes opponents whenever they attack each other. Been a lot of fun so far. Check it out here: Wait, wait. Let me explain..
