Commander cards in Standard?

Hypothetically, if the Commander set cards were actually Standard legal, how influential would they be? Would an otherwise Standard deck that used two copies of Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth and three Curse of Clinging Webs, for example, affect the Standard metagame at all? (I just picked a couple of cards with some synergy, I'm sure there's better potential combos.)

To be clear, you mean precons and Commander Legends products, not just anything that is "Commander legal", correct?

TypicalTimmy Yes, anything printed specifically and exclusively in a Commander precon or Commander Legends.

The question came from Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor and Arcane Signet (although the latter was more intended for Brawl), along with the recent Commander precons directly paralleling the Standard sets.

Well, I think having a playset of Sol Ring might be an issue :p

To answer your question on a far more serious note, strangely enough I don't believe it would shift the meta all by that much. The reason I believe this is because Commander tends to play with higher MV cards, at least the ones printed in precons and Commander Legends. Standard, being far more competitive than precons could ever hope to be, might have little to no use for such cards. Sure, the lands and the aforementioned Sol Ring, which would obviously be banned right off the get-go, but largely speaking I do not believe any card would make a sufficient enough impact to really shift the meta in any meaningful way. Maybe some of the counterspells or spot removal, but not much of anything else.

And this is, of course, going off of Standard rotation. So cards such as Dockside Extortionist and Teferi's Protection would have long since been rotated out, so those aren't even really part of this conversation right now.

Yeah, Sol Ring's out on it's face, but my intention was more about the cards that have only ever been printed in Commander products, not Commander precon reprints of older cards.

And the mana values do tend to be higher, but I wouldn't have been surprised to see the Extortionist, at least, in Standard play. And that would have played interestingly with Uro and friends.

I think that Chaos Dragon might be pretty good in standard. A 4/4 flying and haste for 3 mana with a drawback that doesn't seem to matter too much in 1v1 seems pretty good.

Also, I think Court of Cunning might make mill in a control deck a viable win con, though I'm no standard player so maybe not.

Abaques 3 mana 4/4 hasty flier that can't attack about 50% of the time. Interesting.

And I think there was a good mill deck based around Rogues when Commander Legends came out. I'm sure Court of Cunning would have seen play there.

legendofa I did misread Chaos Dragon, though there is Barbarian Class which makes it much better.

Court of Cunning has never been standard legal, so that would explain why it didn't show up in any standard mill decks. :)
