Sliver Overlord, Cascading to Victory

Commander / EDH

Aiyoki

This is my current developing EDH Sliver deck as it stands right now.

Improvements or other Feedback about this deck that can help me improve success in competitive play is welcomed and appreciated! FYI: (Preferrably improvements that don't cost 100s of $$$)

1) "Ideally" the way This deck works is once you've got Sliver Overloard in play you use it to pull other key slivers, prioritizing Morphon, though other slivers can be prioritized if your opponents are butting heads with getting your setup established.

2) With Morphon in play all other sliver spells will cost less to cast, making many of the multicolored slivers in the deck "Free" to play! Sliver Overlord can now grab The First Sliver and Gemhide, giving slivers the ability to add mana while TFS makes it possible to get even more slivers into play faster without having to pay mana for them!

3) Once Gemhide, TFS, and Morphon are in play you can start ramping up the slivers by using Sliver Overlord's ability to pull the 2 cost multi colored slivers (Prioritize Cloudshredder) and cast them at no additional cost! There are more 2 cost slivers in this deck than 1 cost spells/slivers so the chances of getting Training Grounds into play by cascading for 1 mana spells is increased with every single sliver you play! It's completely possible to get Training grounds and a ton of slivers in play without mana worries since cascade can also call in more 1 cost slivers which can immediately tap for mana because of Cloudshredder.

4) Once training Grounds comes into play it's time to finish up the combo by pulling out Lavabelly and finally our Queen. If you've still got Cloudshredder, Gemhide, and Training grounds in play along with a single mana to spend it's GG. Just keep pumping out more mana tapping slivers with Queen and let Lavabelly's ability do the rest!

The Utility: a) Other slivers like Sliver Hivelord, Crystalline Sliver, and Root Sliver all contribute in some way towards hindering your opponent's ability to remove your slivers.

b) Since we'll more than likely have creatures in play Worship is a great way to stay alive without the need to sacrifice Slivers for defense before you're ready.

c) No mercy, Ghostly Prison, and Death Pits of Rath all serve as deterrents against opponents attacking you. With no Mercy anything the opponent attacks you with gets destroyed and forces them to think carefully about what they attack with. Ghostly prison forces your opponent to pay 2 just to attack with a single creature, greatly limiting their early game offensive capacity if they choose you as their target. Death Pits of Rath essentially gives you free Deathtouch, forcing your opponent to reconsider attacking carelessly as any amount of damage dealt from your throwaway defenders will be enough to destroy them.

d) Protecting our enchantments we have Sterling Grove and Copy Enchantment. Sterling Grove can't protect itself from spells or abilities so we use Copy Enchantment to make a second Sterling Grove. Once these two are in play this basically gives all our enchantments Shroud.

f) Instants in this deck primarily focus on suppressing or delaying the opponent's big winners. By exiling enemy commanders the opponent is forced to pay increasing costs to bring them back, but Enchantments like Kasmina's Transmutation can lock down particularly nasty commander threats by turning it into an abilityless 1/1 creature. With Sterling Grove protecting our enchantments this means Kasmina's will be that much harder to deal with.

Supplementary Spells Because red is a little bit underused in this deck and because I don't currently own a Horned Sliver, Ferocity of the Wilds makes for a great alternative to giving all our slivers the ability to trample over the opponents.

Ps: I'll work on better formatting this text later....

1) Morophon, the Boundless + The First Sliver + Hibernation Sliver

---Hibernation Sliver allows you to Bounce The First Sliver while Morophon allows you to recast 1st for free. As long as you have enough life total to spare, this can become an infinite combo. Add Lavabelly Sliver for healing and damage.

2) Morophon, the Boundless + Fist of Suns

--- Naming slivers with Morophon, Fist of Suns allows us to play any sliver spells for absolutely zero cost as we will be choosing to cast slivers spells for .

3) Sliver Queen + Training Grounds + Heart Sliver + Manaweft Sliver

--- This combo allows us to put an infinite number of slivers into play. Training grounds reduces Sliver Queen's cost to create tokens down to 1 while Heart Sliver gives haste to all new tokens and Manaweft Sliver allows those tokens to tap and add mana, further fueling Sliver Queen's ability. For this combo; Training Grounds can be used interchangeably with Biomancer's Familiar, Heart Sliver can be used interchangeably with Cloudshredder Sliver, and Manaweft Sliver can be used interchangeably with Gemhide Sliver

---- Add Lavabelly Sliver for infinite damage and healing

4) Sliver Queen + Training Grounds + Heart Sliver + Manaweft Sliver + Anointed Procession --- This one works similarly to #3 but with the added benefit of creating a completely viable attack force as Anointed Procession coupled with Training Grounds will net us 2 sliver tokens for the price of 1 mana, allowing us to tap 1 token to create two more tokens. Enter combat phase and attack all opponents with so many token creatures that they won't be able to defend the damage.

5) Shifting Sliver + Virulent Sliver --- Unblockable infect = Ouch. Add Sliver Legion and/or Coat of Arms for powered up devastation.
