This deck focuses on pumping creatures with +1/+1 counters to cause damage. Of course, the power ramped creatures can then cause increasing combat damage.

If you can get in a cycle of putting +1/+1 counters on Shalai and Hallar then swinging for combat damage, it can quickly add up, particularly with augmentations like Hydra's Growth and/or Power Fist.

There are a number of combos in this deck that can kill the table.

Cathars' Crusade + Scurry Oak + Shalai and Hallar - A creature entering the battlefield causes all creatures under your control to get a +1/+1 counter, which triggers commander's damage ability and creates a squirrel token to restart the loop.

Shalai and Hallar + The Red Terror - Shalai and Hallar deal combat damage, which causes a +1/+1 counter to be put on The Red Terror, triggering commander's damage ability, causing a loop until all opponents are dead or someone interrupts.

Herd Baloth + Ivy Lane Denizen - Have Ivy Lane Denizen on the battlefield. Play Herd Baloth, triggering Ivy Lane Denizen's ability to put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. Putting the counter on Herd Baloth creates a green token creature, triggering Ivy Lane Denizen again. Damage target opponent with commander ability for each cycle.

If you can't get mana to get the commander mechanic going, you can still get some nasty creatures with evasion you can pump to swing for big damage. Serra Ascendant can give you a 6/6 flyer with lifelink for just W. If you can grow her with Power Fist and/or Hydra's Growth, you have an ever growing threat, even if you can't make more than 3 mana a turn.

To assist with mana, Dune Chanter and Chromatic Lantern provide redundancy for allowing lands you control to produce whatever type of mana you need.

Powering up Champion of Lambholt can essentially make your creatures unblockable.

Forgotten Ancient and Managorger Hydra both provide a lot of damage from Shalai and Hallar, plus provide you with powerful creatures, or in the case of Forgotten Ancient allow you to redistribute counters as you need.

Mikaeus, the Lunarch + Well Rested can allow you to tap Mikaeus, the Lunarch to remove a +1/+1 counter and put a +1/+1 counter on each other creature you control. At the untap step, Mikaeous will get two +1/+1 counters from Well Rested, giving you a net gain. Pair this with counter incrementers like Kami of Whispered Hopes or Hardened Scales or counter doublers like Doubling Season, Branching Evolution, Fractal Harness, Aragorn, Hornburg Hero, Sovereign Okinec Ahau, or Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, and the damage just piles up from Shalai and Hallar.
