Okay, I know what you're thinking. "Embercleave is not fast enough to be successful in Modern." However, it's still a heck of a lot of fun, and this deck plays well against my friends and at my local FNM (which isn't super competitive).

What you see initially started with the 2021 Mono Red Aggro Challenger deck. Originally, I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it grew on me with time and after making a few tweaks. I then started researching other decks that optimized the use of Embercleave, most of which I found in the Pioneer format. I pulled some ideas from those and added in some more powerful cards from Modern (namely Vexing Devil and Lightning Bolt).

Of course, the win-con is getting Embercleave equipped to Anax, Hardened in the Forge while having a decent board state so my devotion to red is high.

With keeping in mind that I'd like to keep the value of this deck under $100 USD (at the time of this writing), what suggestions do you have for making it play faster and smoother? Does this look like fun to you?
