All hail the Hornet Queen!!! This creature may seem insignifigant at first glance. A 2/2 flying/deathtouch for 7 mana honestly is outright terrible.... Until you stop and think about how a hornet nest operates. When the Queen arrives to begin her colony she shows up with four 1/1 flying/deathtouch tokens at her side, and the fun is only beginning there. By using mana ramp and scry we can search her out quickly and play her asap. But the real fun begins after she hits the field. Phantasmal Image, Progenitor Mimic, Cackling Counterpart, Rite of Replication and more will each put more Hornet Queens out, thus forcing the new queen to spawn four more 1/1 flying/deathtouch tokens. And Parallel Lives doubles the fun each time. A single copy of the queen will spawn eight tokens, and if you make a token of the queen that will spawn two 2/2 flying/deathtouch tokens and 16 1/1 flying/deathtouch tokens. What started as a minor nuisance quickly becomes a buzzing swarm of death before your opponent will realize what happened.
