Niko9 on Diabolic Revelation or Rune-Scarred Demon?

Hmm, I think in general I'd say Rune-Scarred Demon is better, but in your deck you have a lot of interaction and a lot of cards that are good for specific situations, and I actually think Diabolic Revelation might be better to set up multiple plays, or get something to counter another player and something to further your board at the same time.

I almost hate to suggest it because it may be too mean, but what do you think about something like Overburden or Mana Breach to load up opponent's hands with lands? Expel from Orazca is a favorite card of mine and might also work, return a card you want to play with Sen, or if in ascend, then it's brutal because you remove a threat and screw up their next draw.

Also, there's no way it works, but Patron of the Moon doesn't work with Sen Triplets does it? It does say your hand, so I assume you can't play lands with patron from an opponent's hand, but maybe? It would just be a fun play to bounce lands back to their hand and then jam them out on your field. Doubt it works, but hey, the patron kami's will get their day!

DemonDragonJ on Diabolic Revelation or Rune-Scarred Demon?

I have a copy of Diabolic Revelation in my Sen Triplets EDH deck, although I am considering replacing it with a copy of Rune-Scarred Demon, since I like having a powerful 6/6 creature with flying, which I could potentially summon repeatedly, to use its ability multiple times.

What does everyone else say about this? Should I replace Diabolic Revelation with Rune-Scarred Demon, or keep the sorcery in that deck?

I have replaced Diabolic Revelation, Elder Mastery, and Lightning Reaver with Archfiend of Depravity, Indulgent Tormentor, and Rune-Scarred Demon, because the newer cards far better fit the theme of this deck than did the older cards, which, unfortunately, increased this deck's average converted mana cost from 4.40 to 4.42, but that increase is deceptive, since I would need to spend a minimum of 7 mana on Diabolic Revelation to truly get a good bargain from it.

Thank you for your time looking at the list and input! This list has been experimental for a while but its finally getting to play in public and some of your suggestions are going to be added in! I understand the lack of spells for the scepter might make that card look like a dud, but thats why the list has tutors to grab the right spell depending on the situation. The list is convoluted with multiple different lines to take. It's designed like that so it wont play out the same way each game. Sometimes its a turn 3/4 win other times its a messy hour and a half long game. Yes, Head Games is nuts!!! Especially with recursion, everyone gets a meme hand!! Suggesting Opposition Agent will be useful and in some cases, SPICY! Since this list does not revolve around Shadowborn Apostles anymore, Infernal Darkness looks like the right replacement. (Although everyone at one card shop HATES that effect) Playing with more control might be the best route to take since this list gets a lot of threat. Adding Karn, the Great Creator 100% and with some cheaper kill spells that would slow the table down for enough time to assemble the right pieces to have more time to win.

1) Insidious Dreams is not usually cast unless you have citadel on the field. It's a spell that you wouldnt cast if you suspected someone would counter it.

2) Sacrifice works effectively when Razaketh, the Foulblooded or Rune-Scarred Demon are out for extra mana to cast the high cmc spells you tutored with them.

3) Warlock Class is used for it's loss of life effect to start the Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood combo for 1 mana. The second reason it's in the list is the level 3 effect that mimics wound reflection, and would kill any player that pays half their life to counter Temporal Extortion.

4) Darkness is useful against some friends' lists that dish out a lot of damage. The spell can be recurred with Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed's ability but can also be put on the scepter.

From your suggestions: Karn, the Great Creator, Imp's Mischief, Syphon Mind, Opposition Agent, Mana Vault, Read the Bones, Sign in Blood, Peer into the Abyss, and Dauthi Voidwalker all seem to be good cards to add. Might consider moving Sensei's Divining Top from another list into this one for better card draw and also Skullclamp might make a return.

No problem dude! Glad to help, truly.

As a longtime brewer of this particular Commander, I'm definitely seeing a few cards here that I would cut in favor of more card draw, Ramp, Tutors, & Interaction to get you to your power pieces like Vilis, Broker of Blood. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it will be a shorter list to include the things that I would personally keep in the list, sans Lands. Here we go:

Creatures: Vilis, Broker of Blood, Rune-Scarred Demon, Burning-Rune Demon, Ancient Gold Dragon, Drana and Linvala, Mother of Runes, Giver of Runes, Grand Abolisher & Serra's Emissary

Artifacts: All Mana Rocks CMC 2 or less, Swiftfoot Boots & Lightning Greaves.

Enchantments: Dragon Tempest, Phyrexian Arena & Phyrexian Reclamation.

Instants: Boros Charm, Swords to Plowshares, h Path to Exile.

Sorceries: Damn, Diabolic Tutor & Seize the Spoils.

Everything outside of these ones should be replaced with value pieces imo! I'd also heavily recommend that you pick up a copy of Razaketh, the Foulblooded. It was just reprinted in Commander Masters, and is hovering around ~$8 at the time of this post! It was just like $25-$30 a little while ago. Insane. I'd also recommend looking through the Dominaria Remastered set, lots of spicy reprints in there that have taken a price plunge & could be great here like Sneak Attack & Gamble.

Hey dude! Good Commander choice, Kaalia of the Vast has been my main option for years now.

I'll try to keep this brief lol.

The most important thing to remember when brewing this one is to not get distracted by the possibilities of all those Angels, Demons & Dragons. Focus on card quality above all else, the Spells that are going to win you the game.

Razaketh, the Foulblooded & Vilis, Broker of Blood are the top dogs here, their power as individual cards will oftentimes win you game from sheer value. Other pieces like Rune-Scarred Demon, Burning-Rune Demon & Hoarding Broodlord will do the same if you build around them with Spells like Ephemerate & Saw in Half.

I'd also recommend more Treasure tokens! I see you're already running Smothering Tithe & Goldspan Dragon, which is a great start. Adding Ancient Copper Dragon, Cavern-Hoard Dragon, Monologue Tax, Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff & of course Dockside Extortionist will make sure that your deck doesn't necessarily need it's Commander on the field to function. There are also a few lines via Dockside Extortionist & Razaketh, the Foulblooded that deal infinite damage, produce infinite Mana and yield infinite Tutors, which we can get into later if you decide to go that route.

Wrapping up on Mana, I'd also recommend more Rituals and Rocks. Dark Ritual, Burnt Offering & Seething Song are great, as are Talisman of Hierarchy, Talisman of Conviction & Talisman of Indulgence. A Thran Dynamo could be good too. Oh man, Hellkite Tyrant can steal your opponents Rocks, which counts as Ramp I guess?

Anyway, moving on to card draw! Kaalia of the Vast runs through a lot of cards if you build her right, and keeping your hand full is a priority. Necropotence, Black Market Connections, Dark Tutelage, & Dark Confidant are great ways to turn your Life total into more gas. Esper Sentinel & Archivist of Oghma scale with your opponent's activity. None of them will do as much heavy lifting as Vilis, Broker of Blood, but that's honestly asking a lot of any card other than Ad Nauseam.

Onto the deck engine! I see you're running a few things to double down on your Commander's effect, like Aggravated Assault, Blade of Selves & Isshin, Two Heavens as One. While this strategy seems like a great idea on paper, it's actually not as efficient for the deck as it seems. Running a Reanimator strategy to ensure that the deck can continue to cheat creatures out without having to rely on it's Commander to do so is a far more powerful & consistent strategy. Spells like Entomb, Reanimate, Final Parting, Buried Alive, Victimize, Animate Dead, & Karmic Guide will pull a lot of weight in this context.

I could talk about Kaalia of the Vast all day, but I'll stop here. Let me know how you feel about these suggestions.

Also, here's my own list if you want to check it out: ANCIENT DRAGON TEMPEST (KAALIA)

Cheers!
