Rules Q&A

Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion

Legendary Creature — Gith Warrior

If you would put one or more counters on a creature or planeswalker you control or on yourself, put that many plus one of each of those kinds of counters on that permanent or player instead.

Not sure if I'm missing something, but Sram, Senior Edificer seems good in here. Battlemage's Bracers can double your Commander's ability, Haste might come up idk. Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion can add an extra counter each time you add a counter. Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain will probably draw you some cards if you resolve her. Shorikai, Genesis Engine is more card draw to consider, it also makes pilots that can drive your vehicles if you're desperate.

If you can find anything that lets you put -1/-1 counters on opponent's stuff it would be very useful with your Proliferate abilities, Contagion Engine is a good example of what I mean, this starts small but fairly quickly will wipe out everything your opponents control. Choking Fumes could be an interesting surprise, especially if you can proliferate a few times after the spell resolves, possibly turning an attack against you into a bloodbath. Retribution would normally be pretty bad, but here you for sure kill one of the two creatures right away, and the other one will die quickly enough due to Proliferate.

It's a bit 'weird', but if you get out Nin, the Pain Artist out with your Commander you can pay 2UR to ping your Commander for 2 (which won't kill them) and draw 2 cards, that seems like an interesting floor. In a pinch you can remove a creature an opponent controls. If you have a bigger creature you can draw more, the price is surprisingly low since it can cost you no other resources.

I always love decks with Dwarves, such an underappreciated tribe! I have a soft spot for Dwarven Miner and Dwarven Blastminer, two very similar cards that can cripple some decks, I have essentially eliminated an otherwise problematic player by just resolving a Dwarf and locking them out of non-Basics for a measly 2R per turn.

Cool deck!

OUT: Evolutionary Escalation, Strionic Resonator, Taurean Mauler

IN: Halana and Alena, Partners, Arwen, Weaver of Hope, Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion

Mauler is a single, slow burn creature with no evasion (unlike the Managorger Hydra already in the list).

The Evolutionary Escalation was a big target and doesn't provide any protection (unlike the Agitator Ant or Orzhov Advokist already in the list).

And Strionic Resonator could be good, but has limited use in this version of the deck.

Each replacement should help keep my deck moving along better than what I took out.

@albert9367 thanks for the comment! Sorry for the late reaction, I haven't played in a few years. There's a ton of creatures that just add extra counters (like Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion), I prefer it if they are more unique (like Kami of Whispered Hopes. I've recently added the cards below the deck, and put the some away that I wasn't excited about when I had them in hand. (still working on taking more of these out, but I need to play more)

It's now even more synergistic between tokens, +1/+1 and rage effects. And stuff like Fiendlash fits in with my other 'weird' cards to keep things unpredictible and fun for everyone rather than combo off with +1/+1 or tokens every game.

Personally I'd suggest cutting the angels and the Gideon. As far as additions Branching Evolution Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion Realmwalker Eternal Witness are a few things that come to mind

Nice deck. I've done +1+1 counters several times but admittedly never with red (literally sans red actually).

Thundering Raiju would put in some work here.

Together Forever is a nice way to avoid commander tax and stay out of topdeck mode in case of a boardwipe.

Archangel of Thune ain't cheap, but is well worth the price of admission.

Pir, Imaginative Rascal/Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion would also be nice here in addition to the new Ozolith and Conclave Mentor.

The rest of my recommendations are rather expensive (and low hanging fruit) like Doubling Season, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger (I had no idea this card climbed to $60+), and The Great Henge.

Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion has been recommended to me before, I will likely just stick with Pir though, as they're basically the same and I really don't like Universes Beyond.

Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion

Isn't this another Pir, Imaginative Rascal ? Have you ever considered adding this card?

Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion gets an additional coin counter on creatures, which can be preserved and moved around with Nesting Grounds, Resourceful Defense, or The Ozolith.
