Counters staying on coppies?

Say I have a Wyll, Blade of Frontiers with four +1/+1 counters and the Shameless Charlatan background on the field. If pay the three to make Wyll into a copy, do the four +1/+1 counters remain on that copy?

Trying to decide between Shameless Charlatan or Sword Coast Sailor...

The counters will stay.

All you are doing is changing the attributes of Wyll, and not creating a new instance of Wyll
