Are attached auras removed when you regenerate a creature with auras attached to it?

Example: I attach a bunch of aura spells and a Trollhide to Hero of Iroas . My opponent casts a Hero's Downfall during his turn. I activate the Trollhide 's regeneration ability in response. Does the Hero lose all the +1/+1 counters as well as the other auras when he regenerates?

Nope. "Regeneration" means that instead of being destroyed, it's removed from combat, all damage is removed, and it's tapped. So it's not destroyed, thus the auras and counters don't fall off.

No. Regeneration puts a replacement effect "shield" on the creature that says, "The next time this creature would be destroyed, instead tap it, remove all damage marked on it, and remove it from combat". That's it. The creature does not leave the battlefield. It doesn't lose any counters on it, and any objects attached to it remain attached.
